Translate your first Slack conversation

Install the app, connect a channel and verify that every teammate receives the language support they need.

  • Permission to install apps in the Slack workspace
  • A channel where LingoChan can be tested
  • The target languages your teammates prefer

Complete your first translation

Add LingoChan to Slack

Choose Add to Slack, select the correct workspace and review the requested permissions before allowing access.

Expected result: Slack confirms that LingoChan has been installed.

Invite LingoChan to a channel

Open the test channel and invite the app so it can read and respond to messages there.

Expected result: LingoChan appears as a member of the channel.

Configure translation

Use the LingoChan command to enable the channel and set the preferred target language for the relevant users.

Expected result: The channel is active and has a known translation target.

Send a test message

Post a short sentence in a different language and wait for LingoChan to respond.

Expected result: A contextual translation appears in the channel or thread.

Try translation on demand

React to a message with a supported language-code emoji such as :en: or :ja:.

Expected result: LingoChan posts the requested translation without changing channel defaults.

Generate a summary

Use the available LingoChan summary command for a conversation or channel when teammates need to catch up.

Expected result: A concise recap is returned in Slack.

Common issues

You cannot install the app

Ask a Slack workspace owner or app manager to approve the installation request.

The bot does not respond

Confirm LingoChan is a channel member, the channel is enabled and the message is not from another bot.

The wrong language is returned

Review the user language preference and the language emoji used on the message.

A command is unavailable

Open the command reference and confirm the installed app has the latest scopes.
